| So I haven't written in over two months probably because I have recently come to despise xanga. So goodbye.. for now. | | |
| School started again!! EMPHATIC YES! This means that I'm just that much closer to being done, oooo can't wait. Anyways, Christmas break was relaxing other than the part when I worked a lot... I got to hang out with quite a few people over break, good times y'all. Lets see, these are some of the things I did in no particular order
-rollerskating at Terry Hall!! I may have even danced to Thriller in the middle of the rink..
-sledding on plastic trash bags (hey, dont mock it til you try it- its sweet)
-Naomi bustin' it out on her guitar and showing up Mr.Briggs :)
-Road trip to Chicago, it was freezing but fun! Shedd aquarium has lots of pretty fishes
-Work parties.
-Homemade pizzas with the BEAR family leaders
-Making Pico de Gallo with Kat and Carlos, mostly the lime squeezing contest that made my fingers all pruney (in case you ever make pico, its handy to have a mexican around and you don't need to microwave hard limes to get the most juice out of them)
- Oh yes, Christmas was exciting too! I finally got my digital camera.. now if only I knew how to upload pics onto this little bugger..

| Ok, the sibling finally changed the layout so its legible. Now I have no excuse for not posting anything other than sheer laziness. I'm not gonna lie, I probably look at or have looked at your xanga but I don't like posting comments. I do believe thats some kind of violation of unwritten xanga code as I have been called out on this before. Those trackers that logs the name, time, date, and frequency of visitors to your xanga are ridiculous anyways.
So New Years resolution #1- drive slower. I always drive 10 above the speed limit, but I believe thats grounds for a nice speeding ticket, or another one for that matter....
I had more but I can't remember them- so I'll end this
Chuck Norris has a pet kitten- every night for a snack.

| Ever seen the movie Hotel Rwanda? If not you should. Thats not my point though.. In my Psych 364 class theres this guy named Gerard and he's African, and not like Tupac or Denzel african, hes from Africa. The other day our class was talking about morality and killing people and whatnot, comparing Hitler's morals to our own and Gerard raises his hand and says he doesn't agree with what we were saying. He goes on to say that he moved here in 1996 from Rwanda. Being of such intelligence as myself, I thought, hey! there was a genocide that our country turned a blind eye to durning 1994 in Rwanda... wow, he was there. Then class was over before we had a chance to hear what he was going to say. BUT today he had the first 15 minutes of class to talk about what he experienced during the genocide that happened just over 10 years ago. He said that the movie Hotel Rwanda is actually pretty realistic and follows the story well, but it doesn't show everything that actually happened between the Hutu and Tutsi. He said that he remembers bodies being all over on streets and front porches of houses...just bodies all over. It was hard to understand what he was saying, but the class was dead silent while he conveyed his message through broken english. I think Gerard looks to be in his late twenties, maybe early thirties.. which would make him 18-21ish when all this happened to his friends and family. Can you imagine that? He would have been about my age when the Hutu president was shot by Tutsi rebels and then the Hutu's tried to wipe them out in retailation. He also said that his country is suffering badly from AIDS because women were raped over and over again by men running rampant with guns. What the film doesn't portray well Gerard said, was that the killing went both ways- over 1 million people killed in one month.. for no solid reason. He also said that all it would take would be for a few people to sit down, hash out the details and sign peace treaties between these people..but nobody cares about such a small country. We might have to deal with sleazy presidents, politicians who lie and manipulate, high car insurance rates and no roll over minutes for our blasted cell phones, but look what Gerard had to deal with when he was our age. . and its still happening he said. So how about for Christmas we don't whine or complain about how we really wanted that digital camera or the dent in our new car.. check out whats really important and get rid of the rest. | | |
